One of the more intimidating mediums to pick up, I felt like I was adopting my first dog with the amount of research I forced myself to do before tackling my first painting. It was a harried attempt to understand the process of priming a canvas properly with the right undercolor, using the correct turpentine ratio, making sure the room was ventilated so that the turpentine wouldn't knock me out mid-paint, using the right brushes, color mixing… Good lord.
But oh my goodness, does oil paint produce the most vibrant and gorgeous results after a bit of practice. Looks like I found a new favorite. (That might be unfair to all my other favorites… So shh, don’t tell.) Some pieces were commissioned, others for client projects and some were gifts for people I really, really like.
